Dustin Johnson secured a three-shot victory on the Tour Championship to say his first FedExCup title and a $15 million payday yesterday as he capped a PGA Tour season that noticed him return to the highest of the world rankings.
The last occasion of the 2019-20 PGA Tour marketing campaign regarded poised for a drama-free end with Johnson beginning the day having a five-stroke cushion. But the 36-year-old American wanted virtually all of it, carding a last spherical 2-under 68 to fend off 2017 FedExCup champion Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele, who each closed on 4-under 66.
Johnson earned his 23rd profession title and third this season, all coming after the Covid-19 restart. — Reuters
