Conway, Sodhi energy NZ to massive win over Bangladesh

Hamilton: Devon Conway continued his red hot form with the bat to power New Zealand to a big total before Ish Sodhi spun a web around the Bangladesh batsmen as the hosts won the opening T20I by 66 runs. Conway hammered an unbeaten 92 as the hosts posted 210/3, and then leg-spinner Sodhi derailed Bangladesh’s chase by picking up four wickets in his first two overs to finish with figures of 4/28.

Hamilton wins in Bahrain, Schumacher Jr 16th

Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton won the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix for Mercedes on Sunday after an epic, knife-edge battle with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen over the final laps.

Verstappen finished a mere 0.745 seconds behind after starting on pole position. Thirty years after his father first raced, Mick Schumacher, the 22 year-old son of seven-time world champion Michael, had a spin in his Haas early in the race on his F1 debut but recovered to finish in 16th.

Barty sets up Azarenka clash; Tsitsipas advances

World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty looked sharp in a straight-sets victory over Jelena Ostapenko at the Miami Open. Barty defeated the former French Open champion from Latvia 6-3 6-2 to set up a fourth-round clash with Victoria Azarenka. Men’s second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas was untroubled in a 6-1 6-4 over Bosnian Damir Dzumhur.
