The Centre has included 20 extra sports activities disciplines like tug-of-war, mallakhamb and para-sports amongst others for direct recruitment of meritorious sportspersons in Group C degree authorities posts, the Personnel Ministry stated in an order issued on Tuesday.
The transfer comes following a proposal from the Department of Sports for inclusion of some extra disciplines within the record of 43 sports activities for recruitment of sportspersons to any Group C publish in ministries/departments of Government of India.
“It has now been decided to accept the recommendation of Department of Sports,” the order stated.
Accordingly, the record of sports activities/video games for the aim of recruitment of sportspersons by authorities of India is revised to have 63 sports activities disciplines, the order stated.
Sportspersons who’ve represented a state or the nation in nationwide or worldwide competitions in any of the 63 video games/sports activities are eligible for appointment for Group C degree posts, based on present directions.
Sportspersons who’ve been awarded nationwide awards in bodily effectivity underneath the National Physical Efficiency Drive, amongst others, are additionally eligible for the appointment to such posts.
“No such appointments can be made unless the candidate is, in all respects, eligible for appointment to the post applied for, and in particular, with regard to age, educational or experience qualifications prescribed under the recruitment rules applicable to the post, except to the extent to which relaxations thereof have been permitted in respect of class/category of persons to which the applicant belongs,” stated the Personnel Ministry’s directions issued in 2013.
As per the sooner coverage, 43 sports activities disciplines have been included. They are archery, athletics (together with monitor and area occasions), atya-patya , badminton, ball-badminton, basketball, billiards and snooker, boxing, bridge, carrom, chess, cricket, biking, equestrian sports activities, soccer, golf, gymnastics (together with physique constructing), handball, hockey, ice-skiing, ice-hockey, ice-skating and judo.
Besides these, kabaddi, karate-DO, kayaking and canoeing, kho-kho, polo, energy lifting, rifle taking pictures, curler skating, rowing, smooth ball, squash, swimming, desk tennis, taekwondo, tenni-koit, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling and yatching have been additionally lined within the scheme.
Now this record has been expanded to incorporate 20 extra sports activities disciplines together with baseball, rugby, basketball, deaf sports activities, tug-of-war, mallakhamb and para sports activities (for sports activities self-discipline included in Para Olympics and Para Asian Games). PTI
