Bhullar rises with 66

Nairobi, March 24

Indian golf stars Gaganjeet Bhullar and Shubhankar had a good third round at the Kenya Savannah Classic here, carding a 66 and 69, respectively.

Bhullar’s 66, after rounds of 70 and 67, put him to tied-27th position, while Sharma carded a third straight 69 to lie tied-54th after 54 holes. His stunning round of 66 took him from tied-49 to tied-27.

The 32-year-old Bhullar started with a birdie on the par-4 first, dropped a shot on the fifth before six birdies on the next seven holes lifted him up the leaderboard. He did not have a birdie thereafter an dropped a shot on the 18th to finish with a 66 on the par-71 course.

Sharma to started with a birdie on the first, but he had a mixed round overall – one stunning eagle on the par-5 sixth and a total of six birdies, but all this good work was undone by six bogeys, including on the 18th.

“I hit the ball really well today. I found 12 fairways out of the 14 and it was just towards the end that I didn’t hit too many greens but the start was pretty solid,” Bhullar said. “I give myself a lot of birdie opportunities out there. Even the greens I missed I made up and down. I rolled the ball pretty well on the greens today. I hold a lot of good birdie putts, like on 7th, and few others on 10th and 12tth. That kept me kept me going and motivating for the rest of it.”

Justin Harding, with rounds of 64, 66 and 66, led with a total of a 17-under 196. — Agencies
