Yatra to Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand begins

Gopeshwar, September 3

The yatra to the Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand started on Thursday and the primary batch of pilgrims was flagged off at Govindghat.

The Sikh shrine in Garhwal Himalayas will open for devotees on Friday.

Only a restricted variety of devotees led by ‘Panj Pyaras’ had been allowed to proceed for the excessive altitude shrine amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Gurdwara Prabandhan Samiti officers mentioned.

The pilgrims had been gifted ‘saropas’ as per the customized, they mentioned, including that they may cease for the evening at Ghanghariya.

The yatra is starting late by three months this yr because of the pandemic. PTI
