Woman held hostage by two males rescued after gunfight in Noida

A 19-year-old girl being forcibly taken away in an auto-rickshaw by two males was rescued by police from Knowledge Park space on early Wednesday morning after a chase and shootout wherein the 2 accused have been injured, an official mentioned.

The incident came about round 1 am within the Knowledge Park space, they mentioned.

“The local police had set up a checkpoint on Hindon Pusta road where the station house officer of Knowledge Park police station intercepted an auto-rickshaw and signalled it to stop,” Greater Noida’s Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishal Pandey mentioned.

“The auto driver, however, sped away while the police team heard a woman’s crying for help from inside the vehicle and chased it,” the officer added.

As the police staff closed in on them, he auto-rickshaw driver stopped the car and he and his confederate opened fireplace on the police staff, the extra DCP mentioned.

At this, the police too fired again, wherein the duo suffered bullet accidents of their legs, mentioned the officer, including the accused have been rushed to a hospital for whereas the girl was rescued.

The accused have been recognized as Nadeem, a local of Bijnor, and Imran, a Greater Noida resident, mentioned the officer, including the 2 are of their early twenties.

It was not instantly clear why the duo had held the girl hostage.

Initial probe revealed that Nadeem has beforehand been booked for molesting ladies in Greater Noida, the police mentioned, including a contemporary FIR has been lodged in opposition to them on the Knowledge Park police station and additional proceedings are underway. PTI
