UAE mission named in Kerala gold smuggling rip-off

The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) right here is extending all cooperation in a gold smuggling case in Kerala that has acquired political overtones. ‘”The matter is under investigation,’’ mentioned MEA official spokesperson on the incident involving the seizure of 30 kg of gold at Thiruvananthapuram airport.

The UAE embassy has been introduced into the matter as a result of key suspect Swapna Suresh has instructed the Kerala High Court that she had contacted the Customs officer at Thiruvananthapuram airport on the instructions of Rashid Khamis Al Shameli, appearing head of the native UAE Consulate.
