Tamil Nadu village in limelight after Kamala Harris’ nomination as Democratic VP candidate

A distant village in Tamil Nadu has shot to fame following the nomination of US senator Kamala Harris because the vice-presidential candidate by the Democratic Party for the American Presidential elections 2020.

Harris’ maternal grandparents belong to this village and it’s gaining consideration ever because the announcement.

The agrarian village of Painganadu is positioned close to Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district close to right here within the Cauvery delta.

Harris’ mom, Shyamala, was the daughter of PV Gopalan who was lively within the Independence motion after which turned a high-ranking civil servant who fought towards corruption.

Her grandmother Rajam belonged to the close by Thulasenthirapuram village.

Though Kamala Harris’s ancestors left the village, they’d stored their reference to the village temple intact.
