Chandigarh, December 30

The sixth round of talks between the government and protesting farmers began at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Wednesday afternoon.

The government is being represented by Union Agriculture Minister Narender Singh Tomar and minister Piyush Goyal.

Farmers have been protesting at the borders of the national capital for more than a month against the three new farm laws. They think the new laws would rob them of the MSP cushion and that they would be at the mercy of big corporate.

On the other hand, the government claims that the new laws would improve the lot of the farmers.

Despite the five rounds of talks between the government and the farmer unions, the stalemate continues.
