New Delhi, July 16
Members of the Sikh group on Thursday held a protest close to the Pakistan High Commission right here towards ISI for backing pro-Khalistan actions and the ‘Khalistan Referendum 2020’, police stated.
The protest, led by Sardar Manjit Singh GK, worldwide president of Jag Assara Guru Ott (Jathedar Santokh Singh), started round 11.30 am, a senior police officer stated.
There have been round 50 to 60 Sikh protestors who tried to march in direction of the Pakistan High Commission from Teen Murti. However, they have been stopped close to Chanakyapuri police station, he stated.
The protestors have been shouting slogans towards Pakistan’s spy company ISI for selling pro-Khalistan actions and supporting the ‘Khalistan Referendum 2020’, a web-based marketing campaign to demand a separate homeland for the Sikhs.
The ‘Referendum 2020’ is an initiative of pro-Khalistan group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), which has been banned by the Indian authorities for advocating a separate homeland for the Sikhs.
The Centre in a July 10, 2019 notification had declared the SFJ as an illegal affiliation and had banned it for 5 years, saying the group’s major goal was to determine an “independent and sovereign country” in Punjab and it brazenly espouses the reason for Khalistan, difficult the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India.
