SC refuses to entertain PIL to postpone Bihar polls, says COVID-19 can’t be floor

Stating that COVID-19 can’t be a floor for suspending the Bihar elections, the Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain a PIL searching for to defer the meeting polls until the state is freed from the novel coronavirus.

The Election Commission of India will take into account all the things, a bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan stated.

The bench, additionally comprising Justices RS Reddy and MR Shah, stated it was a untimely petition as no notification for the meeting polls has been issued until now.

The petitioner, Avinash Thakur, had sought a route to the Chief Election Commissioner to postpone the polls because of the COVID-19 pandemic on the bottom that the Representation of the People Act offers for the deferment of polls in extraordinary conditions. PTI
