States should reject each choices the Centre has given on pending GST compensation concern and demand in a single voice that Centre should discover the sources and supply the cash to the states, Congress veteran P Chidambaram mentioned on Friday.
The former Finance Minister mentioned the most recent assault on the states is a part of an elaborate design of the federal government to financially cripple the states and scale back them to beg for cash from the Centre.
“In both choice, the Central Government is passing the buck of monetary burden to the states. Under the legislation, the duty to compensate the states falls solely on the Central Government.
The two choices given by the Modi Government to the states to bridge the GST compensation hole is a gross violation of the legislation and an abdication of the duty of the Central Government,” Chidambaram mentioned.
The choice most states are contemplating is for the Centre to assist them borrow after which reimbursement to be made later after 2022 by cess collections.
