The Railways has deployed Covid care-cum-isolation coaches at 17 stations in seven states across the country.

It said on Saturday that 298 coaches had been handed over to various states with a capacity of more than 4,700 beds.

The isolation coaches stationed on platforms have been duly barricaded and makeshift tents provided.

Where permanent facilities for the donning and doffing of PPE kits were not available, the Railways has provided separate temporary units for men and women healthcare personnel. Railway Police Force staff are posted at these healthcare facilities round the clock. The Railways has also made a provision of two oxygen cylinders and fire extinguishers in each coach to meet emergencies. Besides, it had enabled directional guidance and ramp facility for patients.
