A police inspector in Srikakulam district was on Wednesday positioned beneath suspension after a video clip of his purportedly kicking and abusing a Dalit man went viral.
Director General of Police D G Sawang positioned the Kasibugga inspector Venugopal beneath suspension and ordered an inquiry into the incident.
This was the third such incident within the final fortnight the place some police personnel had been discovered behaving allegedly in a high-handed method and in all these circumstances Dalit males had been on the receiving finish.

The Srikakulam district Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar visited the Dalit man Marri Jagans home and enquired concerning the incident.
Deputy Chief Minister (Revenue) Dharmana Krishna Das, who hails from the district, condemned the inspectors highhanded conduct and mentioned the federal government was dedicated to the safety of Dalits.
He mentioned the Visakhapatnam Range Deputy Inspector General of Police has been requested to conduct an inquiry and submit a report.
It all occurred when Jagan went to lodge a criticism towards an assault on him by some YSRC males after he questioned them over the house-sites difficulty.

He mentioned some Dalit organisations, media and political events had been making an attempt to politicise the problem.
