People in Mizoram, Punjab happiest: Report

In the happiness rankings of states and union territories (UTs), Mizoram, Punjab and Andaman and Nicobar Islands are the highest three.

The examine, carried out by India’s main administration technique professional Rajesh Pillania, is predicated on a nationwide survey masking 16,950 individuals between March and July 2020 and tracks the influence of Covid-19 on individuals.

In the ultimate happiness rankings, Mizoram, Punjab, Andaman and Nicobar Islands are the highest three states and UTs, whereas Odisha, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh are the underside three.

Among large states, Punjab, Gujarat, and Telangana lead the happiness rankings and amongst smaller states, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh prime the record.

The analysis has named Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep because the happiest UTs.

“Happiness is a subjective concept and the differences in rankings are due to differences in the components of happiness across states and UTs. This study used six components to measure happiness — work and work related issues like earnings and growth; relationships, including family and friends, health, including physical and mental, philanthropy, spiritual orientation and the impact of Covid-19 on happiness. All these components are found to be significant in the regression analysis and explain the differences in happiness scores,” Pillania stated.
