Pakistan bid to show gurdwara into mosque, India lodges protest

India at this time lodged a robust protest with the Pakistan High Commission over reported makes an attempt to transform a well-known gurdwara at Naulakha Bazaar in Lahore right into a mosque, a spokesperson within the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) mentioned.

“A strong protest was lodged with the Pakistan High Commission on the reported incident whereby Gurdwara ‘Shahidi Asthan’, the site of the martyrdom of Bhai Taru Singh ji at Naulakha Bazaar in Lahore, has been claimed as the place of Masjid Shahid Ganj and attempts are being made to convert it into a mosque,” MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava mentioned.

He mentioned India had expressed its considerations and referred to as upon Pakistan to research the matter and take instant remedial measures. “Pakistan has been called upon to look after the safety, security and well-being of its minority communities, including the protection of their religious rights,” he added. — PTI
