A delegation of high leaders from 5 Opposition events on Thursday known as on President Ram Nath Kovind and sought a probe into the Delhi riot circumstances by a Commission of Inquiry headed by a sitting or retired decide.
The leaders submitted a joint memorandum to Kovind.

In the memorandum, the leaders complained that the Delhi Police was performing in a partisan method. It is implicating those that participated in anti CAA-NRC-NRR agitation, and political leaders against ruling BJP dispensation on the Centre.
They alleged that the police was shielding BJP leaders, together with Union Minister Anurag Thakur and MP Parvesh Verma, and Kapil Sharma who made hate speeches calling for violence earlier than the outbreak of the riots.
“The Delhi Police under the direction of the Union Home Minister is orchestrating a script that is linking peaceful anti-CAA-NPR-NRC protests to this violence,” the leaders alleged.

They drew Kovind’s consideration to the naming of senior political chief Sitaram Yechury in a supplementary charge-sheet referring to the violence.
Expressing outrage, they mentioned such a “manufacturing of conspiracy” by the Delhi Police “is a diversion from identifying and punishing the perpetrators of this communal violence”.
The victims of this violence are being arrested whereas the perpetrators are let scot free, they added.
Riots had damaged out in north-east Delhi amidst the excessive ardour of anti and professional CAA stir in February. More than 50 individuals misplaced their lives within the violence.
The police are additionally investigating the conspiracy angle referring to the violence.
