Nine killed in fireplace at Telangana energy plant

Hyderabad, August 21

All 9 individuals trapped inside a hydroelectric plant in Telangana’s Srisailam after a fireplace broke out late Thursday evening have been killed.

A relentless effort was made for over 14 hours to rescue these trapped at Telangana State Generation Corporation plant. The fireplace erupted probably as a consequence of short-circuit.

The rescue groups led by the Central Industrial Security Force and National Disaster Response Force pulled out the our bodies.

Chief Minister Ok Chandrashekhar Rao has ordered a CID inquiry into the incident.

Of the 30-odd individuals reported to be current on the spot, 15 escaped to security by way of a tunnel and one other six have been rescued.

Telangana Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy stated, “A series of explosions took place leading to chaos. Some alert workers managed to control the fire for some time.” PM Narendra Modi described the incident as “deeply unfortunate”. — TNS
