NIA arrests 9 suspected Al-Qaeda terrorists from Kerala, West Bengal

Anti-terror probe company NIA performed searches and raids at Ernakulam (Kerala) and Murshidabad (West Bengal) within the wee hours of Saturday and arrested 9 suspected terrorists for his or her alleged affiliation with Pakistan-sponsored module of the Al-Qaeda within the nation.

A senior NIA official stated the company bought a tip-off about an inter-state module of Al-Qaeda the operatives at varied areas in India, together with West-Bengal and Kerala, which was allegedly planning to undertake terrorist assaults at very important installations in India with an intention to kill harmless individuals and strike terror of their minds.

“Accordingly, the NIA registered a case and initiated investigation,” the official stated, including that the raids had been a part of this train.

Those arrested embody six from West-Bengal and three from Kerala, the official stated. The six terrorists arrested from Murshidabad are Abu Sufiyan, Mainul Mondal, Leu Yean Ahmed, Al Mamun Kamal and Atitur Rehman, the company official stated. From Kerala, the NIA picked up terrorists from Ernakulam and are Murshid Hasan, Iyakub Biswas and Mosaraf Hossen.

“The operations were conducted in the early morning. Large quantities of incriminating materials, including digital devices, documents, jihadi literature, sharp weapons, country-made firearms, a locally fabricated body armour, articles and literature used for making home-made explosive devices have been seized from their possession,” the official stated.

The NIA stated in its preliminary investigation that it was discovered that these people had been extremely radicalised by Pakistan-based Al-Qaeda terrorists on social media and had been motivated to undertake assaults at a number of locations together with the National Capital Region.

“For this purpose, the module was actively indulging in fundraising and a few members of the gang were planning to travel to New Delhi to procure arms and ammunition. These arrests have pre-empted possible terrorist attacks in various parts of the country,” the official stated, including that the arrested terrorists can be produced earlier than the involved particular courts in Kerala and West Bengal for police custody and additional investigation.
