The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized a really giant cache of ‘ecstasy’, a celebration drug, that was sourced from Belgium by a Mumbai-based couple, officers stated on Thursday.
A complete of three,056 tablets of the narcotic have been seized in an operation carried out within the western metropolis final week, they stated.
Each ecstasy tablet prices between Rs 1,500-Rs 2,500 within the home market, the officers stated.
They stated the couple, recognized as H A Choudhury and R Batharey, had ordered the ecstasy or MDMA drugs from Brussels, Belgium’s capital metropolis, and three,010 have been despatched via a courier on August 10 by hiding them within the “false cavity” of a field that contained tender toys.
The remaining 46 drugs have been recovered from the Navi Mumbai residence of the couple, they claimed.
“The high quality ecstasy pills seized are in different colours like orange, pink and green. The drug was sourced from Brussels and was meant for supply in the Mumbai party circuit,” NCB Deputy Director (operations) Okay P S Malhotra stated.
“We are investigating the linkages of this case to the wider syndicate who traffic party drugs into India,” he stated.
At 3,056 tablets, this is among the largest seizures of the narcotic drugs within the nation, he stated.
MDMA (methylenedioxy- methamphetamine), generally referred to as ecstasy, is a celebration drug that alters temper and its notion is chemically much like stimulants and hallucinogens. It produces a sense of elevated power and pleasure.
