A person was arrested in north Delhi’s Narela, near the Haryana border, for allegedly posing as gangster Neeraj Bawana’s brother and making an attempt to extort Rs 20 lakh from the estranged in-laws of a lady he was making an attempt to impress, police stated Sunday.
Saurabh Bhardwaj, 22, a resident of Jhajjar district in Haryana, had the household particulars of the lady’s in-laws and monitoring their actions every day, a senior police official stated.
Police stated the accused is hooked on medicine and wished to grow to be a prison (“bhai”).
He obtained the lady’s telephone quantity from a buddy. He launched himself as Bawana’s youthful brother “Pankaj” and gave costly presents to her, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Gaurav Sharma stated.
When the lady instructed him she wished to speak to her mother and father about them, Bhardwaj requested her to not do it as his uncle had handed away. But the lady instructed her household about it they usually visited Bawana’s home and the entire incident got here to mild, police stated.

Bhardwaj made the ransom calls to the in-laws to impress the lady, police stated.
