The BJP on Friday claimed that Mamata Banerjee got “scared” and that is why she “dumped” Bhowanipore, her traditional seat, in favour of Nandigram.
“If the incumbent Chief Minister is unsure of winning her traditional seat, it is because she has sensed strong anti-incumbency on ground,” said BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya after Mamata announced her candidature from Nandigram, taking on the challenge posed by the BJP.
“This is just the beginning. Pishi will soon see Maa, Maati and Manush all slipping out of her hands. Bengal will finally see ashol poriborton,” said Malviya.
Malviya also claimed that a “nervous” Mamata not only deserted her traditional seat of Bhowanipore but also kept the option of contesting Tollygunge open.
“In the press she slips in, ‘I may contest too’ while announcing Arup Biswas’ name for the seat (Tollygunge)! Pishi is sensing defeat…,” he added.
Earlier, BJP had said that if Mamata was confident she should just contest from one seat, in this case Nandigram from where Suvendu Adhikari, her former confidant and now BJP leader, is expected to be fielded by the saffron party
Malviya, who also questioned how Mamata knows the BJP was fielding Suvendu Adhikari from Nandigram, claimed she left Bhowanipore because she was “scared”.
The BJP was considering fielding Union Minister Babul Supriyo from Bhowanipore in Kolkata district against Mamata Banerjee if she contested from there.
Meanwhile, the BJP said Adhikari would defeat Mamata in Nandigram hands-down.
