Kozhikode crash: Mortal stays of 16 passengers handed over to households

New Delhi, August 9

Air India Express stated on Sunday that the mortal stays of the 16 passengers who misplaced their lives within the Kozhikode aircraft crash had been handed over to their households.

The mortal stays of pilot-in-command Deepak Vasanth Sathe have already been taken to the Cochin International Airport, from the place it will be taken to Mumbai later within the day, the airline stated in a press release.

The mortal stays of co-pilot Akhilesh Kumar had been cremated on Sunday “with attendance from all family members as well as with the officials of Air India and Air India Express present to mark respect to the departed soul at Mathura, his hometown”, it stated.

The flight from Dubai with 190 folks on board, together with a six-member crew, overshot the tabletop runway on Friday evening whereas touchdown on the Kozhikode airport in heavy rain, fell right into a valley 35 ft beneath and broke into two, killing 18 folks, together with each pilots.

“AAIB (Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau) has initiated the investigation into the accident with the support of Flight Safety Officials,” the airline stated.

“As regards the deceased passengers, the mortal remains have been handed over to the families with their consent,” it stated.

A complete of 149 folks have been admitted to numerous hospitals. Twenty-three have been discharged, whereas three are critically injured, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had stated on Saturday after his go to to the Kozhikode Medical College, the place most of the affected passengers have been admitted.
