Kanpur encounter: 2 cops held for ‘tipping off’ gangster Vikas Dubey about police motion

Suspended Chaubeypur station officer Vinay Tiwari and one other policeman had been arrested on Wednesday on expenses of leaking details about police motion to gangster Vikas Dubey previous to final week’s encounter in Kanpur, during which eight policemen had been killed.

Tiwari and beat in-charge of Bikru KK Sharma, who had been suspended quickly after the encounter, have additionally been arrested on expenses of fleeing the encounter website and placing the lives of different policemen in peril, Senior Superintendent of Police (Kanpur) Dinesh Kumar Prabhu mentioned.

Both the suspended sub-inspectors had been detained for questioning and later arrested, he mentioned.

A separate FIR has been registered on the Chaubeypur police station towards Tiwari and Sharma for allegedly fleeing the encounter website, a police spokesperson mentioned.

Both the SIs allegedly tipped off Dubey, a dreaded gangster, in regards to the impending police raid, he added.
