India on monitor to satisfy its Paris Settlement targets, says PM Modi

New Delhi, December 12

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that India is on track to achieve its targets in the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

On the fifth anniversary of the historic pact that aims at curbing global warming, Modi said his government was eyeing 450 Gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

He said India’s solar capacity had grown to 36 Gigawatts in 2020 from 2.63 Gigawatts in 2014.

“India’s renewable energy capacity will reach 175 Gigawatts before 2022,” he said in his virtual address.
