Many people received moderate to severe injuries following clashes between two groups in Bhainsa town of Nirmal district in Telangana. As tension gripped following clashes on Sunday, police have rounded up 50 people and imposed Section 144 CrPC in the area.
The Superintended of Police, Nirma,l said, “Several people were injured, a few vehicles torched in a clash between two groups in Bhainsa yesterday. Following the clash, 50 people taken into custody and cases registered against them. CCTV footage of the area is being examined, further, probe on.”
The state Director General of Police has issued a strict warning to people spreading rumours about the clash in which about a dozen people, including a policeman and a journalist, were injured in the stones pelting following an incident of road rage between people belonging to two groups.
Administrators of Whatsapp Groups have been asked to prevent the circulation of any related material and warning has been issued by the police saying any message or video that could result in more violence must be deleted immediately and the police be informed.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke also reportedly spoke to Minister of State for Home (MoS) G Kishan Reddy, who hails from Telangana to enquire about the violence in Bhainsa.
Reddy tweeted to say, “Hon’ble Home Minister Sri @AmitShah Ji called me to enquire about the Bhainsa(Telangana) incident and the prevailing situation”.
He said that he had spoken to the DGP about the Bhainsa incident yesterday and strongly condemned the attack on media personnel. The DGP has been asked to arrest the culprits at the earliest and on the deployment of additional forces. He said he also spoke to the Adilabad MP Sri Soyam Bapu Rao on the issue.
