Mumbai, August 12
The India Meteorological Department on Wednesday predicted heavy rainfall at remoted locations in Mumbai and intense showers in neighbouring districts for the subsequent 24 hours.
A brown alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for Raigad, Nashik and Pune, an IMD official mentioned.
Isolated locations in Mumbai are prone to obtain heavy rains, whereas neighbouring districts of Thane, Raigad and Ratnagiri will witness extra intense showers for the subsequent 24 hours, the official mentioned.
Other components of Maharashtra will obtain mild to reasonable rains, he added.
Incessant showers have been pummelling Mumbai and suburban areas since Wednesday morning.
“Mumbai, western suburbs, parts of Thane and Navi Mumbai received more than 60 mm rainfall in the last six hours at 2.30 pm,” tweeted Ok S Hosalikar, deputy director normal of IMD Mumbai.
Satellite and radar point out intense clouding over North Konkan, he mentioned.
Raigad, Thane, Mumbai, Palghar and components of South Gujarat are very prone to obtain intermittent spells of rain, he added. PTI
