The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court saying the court must order a CBI probe into the murder and alleged gangrape of a Dalit woman in Hathras.
It alleged that “vested interests” are attempting to ascribe motive to derail a fair probe.
The state claimed that there were “no signs” suggesting rape. “Provisional medical report of JJ Medical Hospital, Aligarh, didn’t have prima facie findings of rape. The forensic report from FSL, Agra, too, in its final opinion, ruled out rape,” the government told tge SC.
A Bench headed by CJI SA Bobde is likely to take up a PIL seeking action against UP government officials and an impartial probe.
