On a name given by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), Haryana farmers will on Sunday organise street blockades to protest the farm Bills. The Khattar authorities has instructed DCs and SPs to take care of the protesters with “tact and patience”.
Farm organisations led by BKU state president Gurnam Singh Charuni have given a name for a three-hour blockade from 12 midday to three pm. The authorities had confronted flak over its dealing with of the kisan rally in Pipli on September 11. This time, it has requested its officers to train restraint.
The Additional Chief Secretary, Home, has written to commissioners, IGs, DCs and SPs to make sure that no one takes regulation into his/her personal fingers. “Organisers should be prevailed upon to register their protest in a peaceful and lawful manner and desist from blocking highways,” reads the letter.
