Gujarat-based oil provider killed in Maharashtra

Palghar, November 9

A 29-year-old oil supplier from Gujarat was allegedly kidnapped and killed by unidentified persons in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, police said on Monday.

The body of the victim, Nilesh Rawal, was found floating in the Kurje dam in Talasari taluka here on Sunday, police inspector Ajay Vasave said.

Some locals spotted the body and alerted the police.

The body, having a head injury, was later fished out and sent for postmortem, the official said.

The victim, hailing from Umargam in Gujarat’s Valsad district, used to visit Talasari every Wednesday to take orders and supply cooking oil.

After taking orders last Wednesday, he went missing following which his family members lodged a police complaint in Talasari.

After the body was found on Sunday, the Talasari police registered a case against unidentified persons under Indian Penal Code Sections 302 (murder), 364 (kidnapping) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence), the official said.

The reason behind the killing is not yet known, he said. PTI
