In view of the prevailing state of affairs alongside the northern borders, a particular assembly of the Defence Acquisition Council, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday, delegated monetary powers for pressing ‘capital acquisition’ initiatives as much as Rs 300 crore to the armed forces to satisfy pressing operational wants.
These embrace acquisition of weapons and gear below the ‘capital head’ of the defence Budget. Till now, monetary powers as much as Rs 500 crore below the ‘revenue head’ have been vested with the Vice-Chief of the Army.
The transfer will shrink procurement timelines, guarantee placement of orders inside six months and deliveries inside a 12 months.
The Defence Ministry has selected pension for armed forces personnel with lower than 10 years of service who’ve been rendered invalid. This contains bodily and psychological infirmity neither attributable to nor aggravated by service. — TNS
