Eight states account for 90% of Covid burden: Health Ministry

Punjab to have plasma financial institution, CM provides nod

Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday gave the go-ahead for a plasma financial institution underneath the supervision of Dr Neelam Marwaha, a former Head of the Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine.

The Health Ministry stated 49 of India’s 733 districts accounted for 80 per cent of all Covid instances and 90 per cent lively infections. Meanwhile, the Centre stated the DG ICMR’s letter mentioning August 15 launch for the ICMR-Bharat Biotech indigenous Covid vaccine was solely meant to fast-track the processes to make sure speedy launch. “Don’t read what’s not there in the letter,” the Health Ministry stated, dialling down the August 15 deadline. — TNS
