EIA draft not ultimate, protests immature: Javadekar

New Delhi, August 10

Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar in the present day dismissed as “immature and untimely” protests and criticism in opposition to the draft Environment Impact Assessment notification 2020, saying that it was “only a draft and not the final notification”.

“The draft will be finalised after taking into considerations in suggestions and comments received,” Javadekar mentioned amid rising clamour in opposition to the contentious draft and a

very public backward and forward between him and former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh on the difficulty.

Javadekar mentioned those that had been protesting had taken greater choices of their regime and with out public session. “The protest is unnecessary and premature. We will consider all those suggestions and then will come out with a final draft,” he mentioned.

Ramesh once more accused Javadekar of “misrepresenting the implications and impacts of the notification”. According to him, the Parliamentary Standing Committee of which he’s the Chairman has been “inundated with requests from varied stakeholders to present them a chance to current their views. — TNS
