Dalit man stripped, thrashed in Karnataka; 2 arrested

Vijayapura (Karnataka), July 20

A Dalit man was stripped and thrashed by a gaggle of individuals on this district in Karnataka for allegedly touching the motorcycle of one other neighborhood member, police stated on Monday.

As a video of the incident went viral on social media, a counter-complaint was lodged, claiming he was assaulted for teasing two women of Minajagi village, a police official stated.

Two individuals had been arrested and additional investigation was on into each complaints, District Superintendent of Police Anupam Agrawal stated.

The video confirmed a gaggle of individuals stripping the person and beating him up with sticks.

According to District Superintendent of Police Anupam Agrawal, there have been two variations of the incident that occurred on Saturday.

The man’s father lodged a grievance claiming his son was crushed up for touching the bike of a person belonging to a different neighborhood.

But, the attackers of their counter-complaint alleged the person teased two women who went to fetch water from a faucet close to a pond and flashed his non-public elements to them, he stated.

As the ladies began shouting, two youths standing close by chased and held him. Later they took him to the principle highway the place others joined and beat him up.

A case had been registered towards 13 individuals and two of them arrested, Agrawal stated including additional investigations have been on. — PTI
