Lieutenant General-level commanders of India and China will start talks to attract the contours of an important part of the army de-escalation alongside the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh.

Zero tolerance to Pak truce violations: Army

Army Chief Gen MM Naravane on Monday reiterated the stance of ‘zero tolerance’ in opposition to truce violations by Pakistan. 

The assembly is slated to start at 11.30 am at Chushul (on the Indian aspect) in japanese Ladakh on Tuesday.

This would be the fourth such assembly. The earlier conferences have been carried out on June 6, June 22 and June 30. India can be represented by Leh-based 14 Corps Commander Lt Gen Harinder Singh and China by Maj Gen Lin Liu, Commander of the South Xinjiang Military Division.

The two sides are anticipated to finalise a roadmap for de-escalation, which is the second stage of the three-step course of agreed to by each armies to revive peace alongside the LAC. There could possibly be a number of conferences earlier than a consensus is reached on a timeline on withdrawing weapons and hundreds of troops of every aspect.

Currently, there is no such thing as a change within the deployment. Hundreds of artillery weapons and tanks, lethal rocket launchers, missiles, fighter jets, airborne bombers and assault helicopters of each side are lined up close to the LAC. Long-range artillery weapons, which may take 40-km photographs, are deployed 2-Three km away from the LAC, stated an official. Both sides have ensured “mirror deployment” (either side matching the opposite).

The first stage of the three-step course of, which commenced on July 6, was to create a buffer of three km between troops of both aspect.
