Covid restoration fee will increase to 83.33%

New Delhi, September 30

India’s Covid-19 caseload raced past 62 lakh on Wednesday with 80,472 infections being reported in a day, while the number of people recuperating from the disease surged to 51,87,825, pushing the recovery rate to 83.33 per cent.

The total number of cases mounted to 62,25,763, while the death toll climbed to 97,497 with 1,179 people succumbing to the disease in a day. There are 9,40,441 active Covid cases in the country, which comprise 15.11 per cent of the total caseload. The case fatality rate stands at 1.57 per cent.

The Covid tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7; 30 lakh on August 23; 40 lakh on September 5; 50 lakh on September 16; and 60 lakh on September 28. According to the ICMR, 7,41,96,729 samples have been tested for the infection till September 29 with 10,86,688 samples tested on Tuesday alone. — PTI
