COVID affect: SC guidelines out bodily court docket hearings for now

Ruling out the opportunity of bodily court docket proceedings in the intervening time due COVID-19 pandemic, the Supreme Court on Wednesday mentioned a seven-judge panel would assessment the scenario after 4 weeks.

A Bench of Chief Justice of India SA Bobde mentioned the panel would take a name on resuming bodily hearings solely after reviewing the pandemic scenario.

The CJI’s feedback got here after a lawyer demanded resumption of bodily court docket listening to to take care of a batch of petitions referring to reservation in promotions to SC/ST workers in varied states.

The high court docket has been holding digital courts by means of video conferencing since March 25 following announcement of a nationwide lockdown on account of COVID-19.

Even after lifting of lockdown, it determined to proceed with the digital court docket hearings until additional orders.

The Supreme Court Bar Association and the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association have been demanding resumption of bodily court docket hearings however the judges’ panel had within the second week of June determined in opposition to it in view of COVID-19 scenario.
