In a bid to instigate anti-India sentiments, China has been funding organisations in Nepal, that are concerned in fomenting anti-India protests alongside the Indo-Nepal border, intelligence companies say in a report back to the federal government.
The report mentioned the intelligence companies had alarmed the federal government in regards to the Chinese designs to foment bother within the border areas by funding organisations, that are concerned in organising anti-India protests alongside the border areas and attempting to affect locals.
“The Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu has provided financial support of Rs 2.5 crore (in Nepalese currency) to various Nepal-based organisations to carry out demonstrations against India along the Indo-Nepal border that stretches to over 1,700-km,” a supply quoting the intelligence report mentioned. The funded organisations have been requested to focus on the current border disputes and “interferences of India” in Nepal’s inner/political issues, they added.
Earlier this week, the Ministry of Home Affairs had held a high-level border safety evaluate assembly, which was attended by DGs of the ITBP and the SSB. Top officers of the 2 border guarding forces have been requested to boost vigilance on the India-Nepal border. — TNS
