Centre deputes groups to five states


New Delhi, October 16

The government today deputed high-level teams to Kerala, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. The five states have been reporting a surge in new Covid-19 cases in recent days.

The teams will support states’ efforts towards strengthening containment, surveillance, testing, infection prevention and control measures, and efficient clinical management of the positive cases.

The move came as India’s Covid-19 caseload rose to 73,70,468 with 63,371 new infections in a day and 64,53,779 recoveries, making up 87.56 per cent of the confirmed cases. — TNS
