The CBI has taken over the investigation into the dying of famend violinist from Kerala, Balabhaskar, and his daughter in a 2018 street accident after his household alleged the accused within the case had been linked to a gold smuggling ring, officers mentioned.
The violinist was returning dwelling along with his spouse Lakshmi and 18-month-old daughter Tejaswani after a temple go to in Thrissur when their automotive had an accident close to a CRPF camp in Pallipuram on National Highway 66 on September 25, 2018.
Passersby, native residents and freeway patrol of Kerala Police took the injured Balabhaskar, Lakshmi and driver Arjun to Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, and Tejaswini to Anathapuri Hospital.
The hospital declared Tejaswini lifeless on arrival. Balabhaskar died on October 2.
The autopsy of the kid revealed that she died of head damage, whereas for Balabhaskar head and chest accidents proved deadly.
Last 12 months, Balabhaskar’s father Unni met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and sought a CBI probe into the dying of his son and granddaughter Tejaswani.
Unni alleged a conspiracy behind his son’s dying.
“I feel the accident was engineered,” Unni had instructed the media in Thiruvananthapuram.
The crime department, which probed the case, had not discovered something uncommon within the accident and had not regarded into it from the conspiracy angle, he had mentioned.
Prakash Thampy, an in depth aide of the violinist, who had been arrested in reference to gold smuggling, and the motive force Arjun said that it was Balabhaskar who was on the wheel, he had mentioned.
However, police investigations revealed Arjun was driving the automotive.
Officials mentioned on Wednesday that the CBI had taken over the FIR of Kerala Police pertaining to rash driving by which Arjun was named as accused. PTI
