CBI suspends inspector, steno on graft cost

New Delhi, January 16

The anti-graft probe agency CBI has suspended two of its officials — inspector Kapil Dhankad and stenographer Samir Kumar Singh — and recommended administrative action against other two senior officers after they were booked by the agency for allegedly receiving bribes to dilute investigation against companies accused in bank fraud cases.

The CBI also recommended the Department of Personnel and Training to initiate administrative action against Deputy Superintendents of Police RK Rishi and RK Sangwan.

According to the FIR, inspector Dhankad received bribe from Sangwan and Rishi, who were soliciting favours for Shree Shyam Pulp and Board Mills, accused in Rs 700-crore bank fraud case, and Frost International, accused in Rs 3,600-crore bank fraud case. — TNS
