New Delhi, August 14
The CBI has arrested two officers of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation whereas allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs eight lakh for settling PF contribution dues value over Rs 2 crore of his organisation, officers stated Friday.
Enforcement Officer Brajesh Ranjan Jha and Accounts Officer Narendra Kumar had demanded Rs 9 lakh from a businessman for settling the dues, and had agreed on Rs eight lakh after negotiations, they stated.
The dues quantity was Rs 74 lakh which had swollen to Rs 2 crore with curiosity and penalty, they stated.
On a grievance from the businessman, the CBI laid a lure when the bribe cash was being delivered to them late Thursday evening.
The ready CBI crew nabbed the accused whereas allegedly receiving the bribe, the officers stated.
The probe company performed searches on the residences and workplace of the accused officers, they stated. PTI
