B777 airplane for VVIP journey arrives


New Delhi, October 1

The custom-made B777 aircraft, Air India-One (call sign) which will be exclusively used to fly the President, the Vice President and the Prime Minister, arrived in Delhi from the US today.

Advanced features

The Boeing-777 aircraft is retrofitted with missile defence systems called Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures and Self-Protection Suites.

Two B777 planes, which were earlier part of the Air India fleet, were sent back to manufacturer Boeing for retrofitting. One has arrived while the other is expected to come later this year.

It has been retrofitted with state-of-the-art missile defence systems, called Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures and Self-Protection Suites. It can fly non-stop 1,3000 km. — TNS
