Assam tables Invoice to abolish madrassas

Guwahati: The Assam Government on Monday tabled a Bill in the Assembly to abolish all state-run madrassas by converting them into general schools from April 1 next year. Despite a united Opposition raising objection, Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma introduced the Bill on the first day of the winter session. PTI
