Ashok Lavasa resigns as Election Commissioner


New Delhi, August 18

Ashok Lavasa on Tuesday resigned as Election Commissioner and would quickly be becoming a member of the Asian Development Bank as vp, sources within the ballot panel mentioned.

Lavasa was subsequent in line to move the EC.

Lavasa, the sources mentioned, has despatched his resignation to Rashtrapati Bhavan and has requested to be relieved on August 31.

He could be becoming a member of the Philippines-based ADB someday in September, they added.

He was named the financial institution’s vp final month. — PTI
