Another Vikas Dubey confederate arrested from Kanpur

Kanpur, July 14

The Kanpur police have arrested one other member of the Vikas Dubey gang, Shashikant alias Sonu, on Tuesday from the Mela Tiraha space in Kanpur.

Addressing a press convention right here, Additional Director General (ADG) (Law and order) Prashant Kumar mentioned that on the knowledge offered by Shashikant, the police had recovered an INSAS rifle and 20 cartridges from his home. These have been snatched by the miscreants from the police on the night time of the incident.

“We have also recovered an AK-47 and 17 cartridges from the house of Vikas Dubey at Bikru village,” the ADG mentioned.

The home was demolished by the police on July 4.

The ADG mentioned Shashikant had confessed to his involvement within the shootout during which eight policemen have been killed on July 3. The arrested felony has additionally named the opposite accused within the crime.

The ADG mentioned that of the 21 accused, 4 had been arrested, particularly Shyamu Bajpai, Jahaan Yadav, Daya Shankar Agnihotri and now Shashikant.

He mentioned six of the accused – Vikas Dubey, Amar Dubey, Prabhat Mishra, Bauan Dubey, Prem Prakash Pandey and Atul Dubey had been killed in encounters.

“Eleven of the accused are at large and will be arrested soon,” the official mentioned.

The ADG refused to take any questions on the press convention and left abruptly. IANS
