New Delhi, September 21
An estimated 9,488 pilots might be required in India within the subsequent 5 years, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated Monday.
“The total number of pilots employed in the country with scheduled airlines at present is 9,073,” Puri stated in a written reply in Rajya Sabha.
He stated 700-800 industrial pilot licences (CPLs) are issued by the aviation regulator DGCA in a 12 months.
Of these, 30 per cent CPLs are given to those that have undergone coaching in a overseas organisation, Puri added.
The aviation sector has been hit vastly by the coronavirus pandemic.
