9 trapped in Telangana energy station fireplace mishap

Rescue efforts are on to rescue 9 folks trapped in a fireplace mishap at TS Genco’s hydel energy station at Srisailam left financial institution canal in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana.

The incident is reported to have taken place on Thursday evening. Initial stories point out that short-circuit led to the hearth and thick smoke engulfing the spot.

Of the 17 folks reported to be current on the spot, eight escaped to security by way of a tunnel. Those trapped embrace six TS Genco staff and three personal firm staff.

Firefighters had been rushed to the spot and try to rescue the trapped, together with a deputy engineer and assistant engineers. Officials mentioned thick smoke is hampering rescue operations.

Telangana minister Jagadish Reddy and TS Genco CMD Prabhakar Rao reached the spot and are overseeing rescue efforts.

Reddy mentioned the mishap occurred within the first unit of the ability station and 4 panels had been broken. He mentioned rescue personnel was unable to enter the tunnel resulting from thick smoke.

Rescue personnel are being introduced in from the Singareni collieries to assist the rescue operations.

Power era operations on the energy station have been suspended following the incident.

The Srisailam dam is positioned throughout the Krishna which serves because the border between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. With IANS
