60 diplomats to go to Bharat Biotech

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will take over 60 diplomats to leading biotech companies in Hyderabad—Bharat Biotech and Biological E—on Wednesday.

Bharat Biotech and Biological E that are working on a Covid-19 vaccine.

“This is the first such visit and it will be followed by visits to facilities in other cities,’’ said a MEA news release. An earlier attempt to take about 100 diplomats to the Serum Institute in Pune was cancelled after the local administration denied permission due to a spike in Covid cases at that time.

“We have been contributing significantly to global efforts against Covid pandemic. There is a lot of interest in India’s vaccine development efforts. India is the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer. As PM said India’s vaccine production and delivery capacity will be used to help all humanity in fighting this crisis,’’ said the MEA release.
