2 African college students thrashed on Roorkee campus, faculty director amongst eight held; video viral

Eight individuals, together with the director and deputy CEO of Roorkee Institute of Technology (RIT), have been taken into custody in reference to the alleged assault on two African college students on its campus lately, a senior police officer mentioned on Friday.

RIT Director Parag Jain, its Deputy CEO Shrikant and 6 safety guards Yogesh, Khushiram, Sonu, Ashish, Lalit and Munendra Chauhan have been taken into custody in reference to the incident which passed off on Wednesday, Circle Officer Manglaur Abhay Singh mentioned.

They are being interrogated, he mentioned.

Though investigations have been nonetheless underway, the African college students have been allegedly assaulted by the safety guards after they entered into an argument with them after being stopped from leaving the campus, Singh mentioned.

The college students who stay within the RIT hostel weren’t paying their charges and the administration had apparently determined to limit their motion to mount strain on them to clear their dues, he mentioned.

The two college students who sustained accidents within the assault are admitted in a hospital close by. PTI
